River North Brewery Turns 13: Celebrate with Us on February 22nd!

It’s finally here—River North Brewery is celebrating 13 incredible years! This time, we're going all out with THREE exciting days of festivities, and you definitely don't want to miss it! Featuring the eagerly awaited Anniversary 13 release, fantastic food trucks, and an incredible atmosphere, the celebration kicks off next weekend, and we want YOU to join us. Our Journey So Far...

Founded in February 2012 by Matt and Jessica Hess, River North Brewery has become a cornerstone of Denver’s craft beer scene. Over the past 13 years, we’ve brewed countless batches and earned prestigious accolades, including awards at World Beer Cup, Great American Beer Festival, and European Beer Star. From brewing the world’s strongest saison, Double J. Marie, to gaining recognition for our barrel program, our dedication to pushing the boundaries of craft beer has brought us global acclaim. None of this would have been possible without the unwavering support of our incredible community—so thank you for being a part of our journey!

The Beer We’ve All Been Waiting For

Each anniversary, we’ve released a special beer that grows in anticipation year after year—and Anniversary 13 is no exception. What’s in store for your taste buds? A special blend of double, triple, and quadruple barrel-aged imperial stouts, aged in some of the finest Colorado whiskey barrels, including Colorado bourbon, rye whiskey, ex-honey & ex-maple syrup whiskey, Colorado straight whiskey, and Colorado single malt whiskey barrels. Yeah, we’re talking layers of rich, complex flavor that you won’t find anywhere else. With an incredible 22.7% ABV, this beast is not for the faint of heart. It’s a rare and highly sought-after beer, and trust us—this one sells out fast every single year. If you want to make sure you get your hands on a bottle (or two... or twelve), you need to act quickly.

Pre-sales are live, and they’re flying off the shelves faster than you can say ‘barrel-aged goodness!' Can’t make next weekend? No problem! You can still reserve your bottles for pickup, and we’ll hold them for up to a month. We’d love to know—what has been your favorite Anniversary beer so far? We had the chance to chat with our Head Brewer, Matt Malloy, about his top pick over the years. Malloy has a special fondness for Anniversary 10, a 22% triple barrel-aged imperial stout. He explained that its extended time in the barrel allowed it to develop a deeper, more refined character. According to Malloy, each Anniversary release is unique because of the different aging times, which means they all reach their peak flavor at different moments. While Anniversary 10 may be his current favorite, he notes that each Anniversary beer has its moment to shine and, at different times, can rise to the top as his go-to pick. That’s part of what makes them oh so exciting!

2/22 Saturday: The official birthday bash! Celebrate with our Anniversary 13 release, dessert vendor, food trucks, and even more birthday fun at both taprooms. It’s going to be a party all day long!

2/23 Sunday: Our anniversary beer pairing dinner with Thistle & Mint, featuring a 5-course meal with 5 River North beers including our Anniversary 13 and a 30-day dry-aged New York strip. Blake Street Taproom. Reserve your seat HERE.
